Field & Facility Care
Donations help us mow, drag, and line the diamonds; maintain bleachers and dugouts; and keep the lower bowl and spectator areas clean. These behind‑the‑scenes efforts are what make tournaments and leagues possible.
Friends of Hoyt Park is a volunteer‑driven 501(c)(3) working to keep Saginaw’s historic Hoyt Park thriving with year‑round ball, ice, and community events for all ages.

Friends of Hoyt Park has led the grassroots effort to restore and maintain this historic city park.
Softball, youth baseball, winter ice skating, sledding, festivals, and more on the same beloved grounds.
Donations and volunteers keep the ballfields, ice rink, and lower bowl clean, safe, and game‑ready.
Hoyt Park was gifted to the City of Saginaw in the late 1800s and has been a gathering place for generations. Today, Friends of Hoyt Park works in partnership with the City of Saginaw and Saginaw County Parks to make sure this landmark remains a vibrant hub for sports, festivals, and family‑friendly recreation.
From grooming the ballfields and maintaining the lower bowl to supporting the seasonal ice rink and warming house, our volunteers and donors provide the hands‑on care that public budgets alone can’t cover.

Friends of Hoyt Park focuses on three core areas: maintaining high‑quality playing surfaces, bringing people together through tournaments and events, and creating affordable opportunities for kids and families to get active outdoors.

Working with Saginaw County Parks & Recreation, we help host the Hoyt Park Youth Summer Baseball League, giving kids an affordable way to learn fundamentals, build confidence, and play on real ballfields close to home.
From premier USA Softball state championships to community‑focused events like the Hoyt Park Cinco de Mayo Classic, our goal is to bring top‑tier play and inclusive celebrations back to the heart of Saginaw.
The Hoyt Park Cinco de Mayo Classic is a new annual softball tournament that celebrates Saginaw’s strong baseball and softball tradition while honoring the city’s vibrant Latino community. Hosted at Hoyt Park’s historic diamonds, the Classic brings together local teams, visiting clubs, families, and fans for a full weekend of competition and celebration.
Proceeds from the event help support Friends of Hoyt Park’s mission: keeping the fields in top condition, expanding youth programming, and making sure the park is ready for the next generation of players.

Every dollar and every volunteer hour goes directly into keeping Hoyt Park active, inclusive, and well‑maintained for the whole community.
